Potential flow:
A potential flow is an idealized flow where the effect of viscosity is ignored with qualities that make it very easy to understand and calculate. Although most flows in reality are far more complex than potential flows, we use it to describe those flows anyway, and do calculations with it to better understand them, often with good results.
